Serie A: Napoli, Ac Milan and Atalanta at the top

After a great performance and a 4-1 victory against Liverpool in Champions league, reserve striker Giacomo Raspadori scored his first goal for Napoli a minute before time in a 1-0 victory over Spezia in Serie A on Saturday. This was just enough to bring Napoli at the top of the table before the games of Ac Milan and Atalanta.

AC Milan managed to get their first away win of the season as they won 2-1 against Sampdoria despite playing with 10 men from the 47th minute due to Leao’s red card. Milan started brilliantly the game, scoring their first goal in the sixth minute with Junior Messias. Sampdoria took advantage of their numerical superiority and in the 57th minute Filip Djuricic scored. Ten minutes later Gonzalo Villar was penalized for a handball inside his own penalty area, Giroud took the chance and scored the penalty, making it 1-2 for Ac Milan, a score that didn’t change until the last whistle.

Atalanta’s game against Cremonese seemed like the perfect opportunity to bring them at the top alone, two points clear of Napoli and Ac Milan. Neither side managed to score in the first 45 minutes but the second half was quite different. Atalanta equalized with Demiral’s header in the 74th minute and hoped that this would be enough but their advantage didn’t last long, as Valeri scored in the 78th minute making it 1-1, a score that didn’t change until the final whistle.
