League of Legends fans from all over the world are gearing up for their biggest sporting event, the Worlds Championship. The tournament will begin at the end of September, and 24 of the best teams from around the globe will battle it out for the ultimate title. Riot Games has already announced when the tickets for each stage will go on sale.
This year’s edition of the world-renowned tournament will be held across North America, with four cities – Mexico City, New York, Atlanta, and San Francisco – hosting its various stages.

The sale of tickets for the League of Legends Worlds 2022 Group Stage, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Play-ins will begin on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at 9 AM PT, 12 AM ET, 5 PM BST, 6 PM CEST, and 01:00 KST (September 9).

LOL WORLDS PLAY-INS TICKETS
Mexico City will serve as the host for the tournament’s Play-Ins. This stage of the league will span five days between September 29 and October 4, and matches will be held at the Arena Esports Stadium at Artz Pedregal. 12 teams divided into four groups will play each in a double round robin, and the top two teams in each pool will progress to the next stage of the play-ins. From there, the top four of those eight teams will seed through to the group stage.
You can preserve tickets for this sale on Cinemax’s official website.
GROUP STAGE TICKETS FOR LOL WORLDS
The Madison Square Garden in New York City will be home for the Group Stage. A total of 16 teams, including the ones qualified from the play-ins, will make it to this round of the league. Right now there are three confirmed seeds each for teams from China and South Korea, and two each from North America and Europe. Games will take place over the two weekends between Friday, October 7 and Sunday, October 16. The Hulu Theater will serve as the playing arena.
LOL WORLDS KNOCKOUT STAGE TICKETS
After NYC, the base shifts to Atlanta, Georgia for the Knockout Stage. The State Farm Arena’s capacity to seat 21,000 people makes it ideal to serve as the battleground for the top four teams, and their legions of fans. The games are scheduled for October 29 and 30, the last weekend of the month. The World’s semifinals were originally meant to take place in Toronto, Canada but according to Riot, they were moved to Georgia due to “challenges presented by the pandemic”.
WORLDS 22 FINALS TICKETS
The final will be held on November 5 at the Chase Center in San Francisco. The state-art-of-the-art sports center, which can host over 18,000 people is an apt location for the conclusion of one of the biggest esports tournaments in the world. Last year, the tournament drew in an average audience of 1.3 million people. This year’s finals are expected to surpass these numbers.
Defending World Champions Edward Gaming had a rough spring at the LPL, seeding at the 7-8 position. But they’ve picked up well this season, and finished their seed at five. They slotted into round two of the playoffs bracket, and won their first game. Winning the next two rounds will see them at the semi-finals, and from their en route to defending their title.
[UPDATE] LOL WORLDS 2022 TICKETS SOLD OUT IN MINUTES – SEPTEMBER 9TH, 2022
Tickets for the Play-ins, group stage and semifinals went on sale on September 8, 11:00 a.m. CT on Ticketmaster. The Cinemex website granted pre-sale access to MasterCard holders, since Mastercard is one of the global partners of Riot Games for the event, and Verified Fan users i.e. those who registered on the website two days prior to public sale.
It made things even more difficult for general access purchasers. Once fans in the queue were given access to the seat map, many had already been blocked. In the end, all tickets sold out within minutes. Of course, the scalper menace continues to rear its ugly head. Tickets have already begun to appear on various consumer platforms with jacked up prices, sometimes selling for more than twice the original rate.
Considering that there were thousands vying for a limited number of seats, it isn’t entirely surprising that they were sold out within minutes. The tournament returned to North America for the first time since 2016, and the rush among fans to be a part of it was frenetic.
The limited venue capacity for the play-ins, groups and knockouts is a telling factor in the instantaneous sell-out. The LLA Studio in Mexico City which hosts the play-ins seats only 130 people. The groups will be held at the Hulu Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York City, which can seat around 5600 fans.
The State Farm Arena in Atlanta and San Francisco’s Chase Center are much larger venues, able to seat 21,000 and 18,000 people respectively, though it’s unknown yet whether all seats will be in use.
The next phase of the sale will occur on September 29, at 11:00 a.m. CT, where tickets for the finals will become available to the public. The Worlds will end on November 5, and one winner will be crowned from the top 24 teams in the world.
