Spain won their 4th gold medal in 13 years. What an achievement. What a legacy this national has built through these years. Even this year that Spain was considered the 6th or 7th ranked team in the list of favorites, this team’s winning mentality is admirable.
In the final, Juan Hernangomez was the finals MVP, having 27 points, 5 rebounds, with SEVEN three-point shots. His brother Willy scored 14 points (5/14 2PT, 4/6 FT), grabbed 8 rebounds, also got the MVP of the EuroBasket. Not bad for the brothers. Lorenzo Brown was decisive too in many games, and was a very important peace.
Last but not least, Spain’s amazing and legendary coach, Sergio Scariolo. His achievements speak themselves but this years could be his greatest for many reasons. Sergio Scariolos achivements:
Scariolo served two times as head coach of the Spanish national team: from 2009 to 2012 and from 2015 to present. Under Scariolo, Spain won the gold medal at the EuroBasket 2009, EuroBasket 2011, the EuroBasket 2015 and the EuroBasket 2022, and the bronze medal at EuroBasket 2017.
